This piece is created using ink and watercolour on red Japanese paper with a pronounced texture reminiscent of textile. Its distinctiveness lies in the unique technique I developed, painting from the reverse side of the paper. As a result, subtle fibre-like veins appear on the front surface, adding depth and material presence to the image.

It is the first work I’ve made using this method — experimental both in technique and composition. The elongated format enhances the scene’s dynamic feel, while the professional presentation — double framing, matting, and museum glass — elevates its presence as a contemporary art object.

The work merges traditional imagery with an innovative approach and stands as an example of contemporary art that pushes the boundaries of conventional watercolour practice.
