There’s a state between waking and sleep where you aren’t bound to either one. You’re not fully dreaming and you’re not fully conscious. Both realities overlap. The subconscious is online, but the logical mind hasn’t locked things back into place yet. It’s unstable in the best way. Fluid. Unfixed. We still don’t understand much about human consciousness, but that threshold state is powerful. It’s a portal. You’re not constrained by the rules of the waking world, and you’re not fully surrendered to the structure of a dream either. Strange things can happen there because perception hasn’t chosen a side. Hypnogogic Landscape holds that transfer point. The overlap. The moment when two states sit on top of each other and neither one dominates. It reminds me of old cartoons where the world would bend and blur as a character drifted off. That visual shift wasn’t just about sleep, but the blending of realities.
