This piece was created during the height of the pandemic in March 2020. We left the city and went to stay with my ladies family in Connecticut for a couple of months. I was able to set up a mini studio in a small garage away from the house and that was my sanctuary. This piece gave me comfort while I was away. It symbolizes everything I love about NewYork that makes it my home to me. It’s the culture and diversity, it’s the ratings on the wall. They have influenced me and who I am today. And this piece, the writings were the people that I was speaking to in my art that have influenced me or been there in one way or another throughout the years.
I should’ve titled this piece - “I miss you” because I was outside looking in.
