“If Order Was Optional” arrived at the exhibition with absolutely no intention of cooperating. The hanging plan was treated more like a loose philosophical suggestion than an actual instruction. Every time installers tried to create visual structure around it, the painting somehow disrupted the entire wall dynamic. Nearby works began leaning emotionally off-centre. One curator described it as “charismatic anarchy in acrylic form.” It never apologized, mostly because it genuinely believed the room looked better once the rules dissolved a little.
