I made Last Embrace / Double Fatality to be a gut punch regarding dangerous driving. Depicted are two skeletal pedestrians being hit at night by a car, whose driver is barely visible. I sometimes show this piece without the second part of the title, Double Fatality: Viewers often don't immediately recognize the scene being depicted, and I enjoy seeing their slow realization that a presumed romantic scene is actually tragic. I use layers of various media to create textural contrasts to draw the viewer in close and delay seeing the big picture.
