Bird in flight

Acrylic on professional wrapped canvas painted on four sides.

36x48x1.50"

In Bird in Flight, a powerful bird moves through a dreamlike sky, carrying a sense of courage, freedom and transformation. Its forward gaze suggests purpose, while the red and gold in its feathers bring energy and light. The clouds below seem to hold shifting faces and forms, leaving room for each viewer’s imagination.

I began intuitively, without a fixed sketch, layering blues to establish the sky. I then shaped the clouds and built the bird through successive layers of acrylic, developing its dark form and vivid red and gold markings. Sparkle and speckled details add points of light and movement. I continued until the bird and swirling clouds felt united in flight.
