The evidence of beauty, freedom and childplay seen in a backyard can be noticed from the kitchen window view. But the window, with its grid of ‘bars’, shows entrapment, as the woman faces an unending and isolating chore of cleaning dishes. At the sight of my kitchen sink in front of me and thinking what I rather be doing at that moment, I stopped and took another look at my surroundings; paused to embrace the mess and see a beauty in it. Then and there, I decided to put down my dish rag and pick up my paintbrush instead, and start painting the chaotic mess in my life. My painting represents the negative, but also the positive¬—elements of pattern, colour and light.”
