Inspiration for this painting was the allegory of life, as depicted by famous images on the refrigerator magnets. I used an apartment I used to live in while I was in Montreal, as the basis for this painting. The magnets shown from top to bottom are Millet's "The Gleaners" representing working life, Vermeer's "The Girl With The Pearl Earring", representing love, a small segment from Michaelangelo's Sistine Chapel, representing old age and Van Gogh's "Wheatfield With Crows" painted as a double magnet. This last image represents death, although I leave any further interpretations up to the viewer.
