Painted Dome explores light, architecture, and atmosphere through the iconic forms of whitewashed Mediterranean structures set against an intense cobalt sky. Painted in layered acrylic on canvas, the composition balances simplified geometry with expressive surface texture, creating a contemporary interpretation of coastal architecture and sunlight.

Created using a combination of traditional brushwork and selective finger painting, portions of the surface carry a softened tactile quality that enhances the warmth of the reflected light and the organic movement within the stone architecture and sky.

Selective silver leaf is integrated throughout the painting only where sunlight naturally strikes the architecture — along the dome, stone ledges, cross, and illuminated structural edges. As light moves across the surface, the metallic passages shift and glow, giving the painting a luminous quality that changes throughout the day.

The contrast between the cool stone forms, brilliant sky, and reflective metallic surface creates both calm and dramatic presence, while the simplified composition emphasizes shape, rhythm, and Mediterranean atmosphere.
