In Parallel, a tree stands between two worlds: one deep and star-filled, the other bright with blue light. Its rings hold the memory of time passing, while smaller circles seem to echo outward into both spaces. I imagine the tree as a quiet meeting place between night and day, stillness and movement, the world we know and the one just beyond it.

Process
I created two contrasting fields of colour on either side of a central tree trunk: deep navy with sparkling points of light, and vivid blue with softer, cloudlike marks. Warm browns and ochres give the trunk weight and presence. I added the circular ring patterns along the trunk and repeated them in the surrounding space, linking the two sides of the composition. The contrast in colour and texture helps the forms feel as though they exist side by side.
