I created work that portrays strong emotions, personally, and societally represents and perhaps confronts the "traditional duties" of women. I definitely think hands tell the story of human beings and are very powerful imagery when representing the human subject. The dark colour scheme offers a sense of drama that one would not usually associate with such mundane, simple tasks.
For me, squeezing a sponge is gross. Even looking at this image gives me a very visceral reaction. From a societal point of view, the sponge represents the "woman's duty to clean".
