Created during a residency at Cortijo el Moro in Andalucía, Remnant began as a monoprint pulled from a scratched plexiglass plate—its circular marks and soft pink tones marking a departure into unfamiliar color territory. I brought the piece with me to Spain, where it evolved through layers of chine-collé, including a black gelli print anchored at its center.

A broken ceramic shard I found on the grounds became both a tool and a guide, pressing a vertical grid that hints at windows or openings. From there, white horizontal lines and grassy, wind-blown gestures drifted into the frame, suggesting the way fragments linger even after the whole has moved on. Remnant sits in that space between presence and absence—where what’s left still has something to say.
