Just three days after the new eastern section of the Bridge was open I decided to take a drive across the bridge.  I drove east from my home in Daly City to Oakland.  Then I turned around and drove west back towards San Francisco.  I decided to get off at Yerba Buena Island thinking I would drive up to the top of the Island to try to take a photo of the Bridge from up on high.  Instead, the road was open down towards the base of the bridge.  I kept driving, and driving, and driving, expecting at some time to come to a dead end or some security people telling me turn around.  But there was no one there!   I drove as far as I could down at the bottom of the bridge and found a place to park.  I got out of the car and started to walk through the construction site as far to the east as I could.  I was AMAZED there was no security persons there.  I walked as far as I could under the bridge and snapped this photo.
