To be in a state of serenity one must be at peace and untroubled. A person in this state lives in the moment, not in the past or future. There are no worries, no regrets, and no anxiety; they are happy with all they have and all they are. Seeing someone living in the moment, we may think that person is not seeing the big picture or is not driven to make more of themselves or does not work hard enough. This, in turn, makes our life seem bigger and better than the other’s simpler life. Yet all we really need to do is bask in our own version of a hot, sunny beach and allow ourselves to also be at peace.
