She" is one of my first pieces of art created using wood that resembles a person. I chose a female version in particular because of my fascination with women of color and their role in today's society. I purposefully selected the colors from her skin tone to her hair to show the deep concentration of ethnicity and wisdom. It was intended for the face to be a silhouette of a lady of color and the carved wooden circles resembling her hair to be pronounced in design. Some of the wood used in this piece is reclaimed wood from my home previous owner wood shop that was replaced with a studio I built in its place.
