“Still Life with the Black Tea Pot and an Old Chinese Mask” is a large-scale still life inspired by my experience in Beijing, China. I brought these objects back with me after being deeply impressed by Chinese culture, history, and visual traditions.
The composition is built around rich, warm oranges contrasted with a large area of white, creating a strong sense of light and space. The black teapot and old Chinese mask stand out against the surrounding colours, bringing together different shapes, textures, and visual rhythms.
For me, these objects are more than elements of a still life. They carry a connection to a place and to my personal experience of discovering and being inspired by Chinese culture.
