Summer Rain

Summer Rain is a celebration of the surprise downpour that arrives in the heat, with simplified trees and shrubs soaking up a multi-colored deluge. I use acrylic and flashe vinyl colors mixed with various amounts of clear gesso and matte medium to build up layer after layer of thinned washes on Belgian linen. Combining clear gesso with acrylic and vinyl paints in this way creates a unique grit "soaking" the linen, with shimmering, dispersed mica.
