This photograph captures sunlight skimming across wet sand at the shoreline of Montara Beach just moments after sunrise in winter. With the sun newly risen above the horizon and positioned nearly perpendicular to the beach, the light reflects directly back, transforming the sand into a luminous, shimmering field. Countless points of light scatter across the surface, dissolving the boundary between land and sea and evoking the quiet intensity of early morning.

This photograph was shot on a Nikon F with a Nikkor lens using black and white film, then printed by hand in the darkroom. The traditional analog process lends a tactile depth and richness to the print, honoring both the fleeting light of that winter morning and the enduring craft of film photography.
