Mixed media on aluminum.

"The Crowd" is a playful yet pointed exploration of group energy—how we move together, blend in, stand out, or vanish into the noise. The inspiration came from watching how people behave in public spaces: animated, distracted, synchronized in odd, unspoken ways. I wanted to capture that feeling of being surrounded—of belonging and disconnecting all at once.

Using aluminum as the base gave the piece a cool, reflective presence, while the mixed media elements allowed me to break up that surface with texture, color, and personality. Bright, saturated tones and layered forms suggest faces, gestures, and expressions—some exaggerated, some almost hidden. It’s intentionally busy, a little chaotic, like a crowd that’s shifting just out of sync.

This work plays with ambiguity. Are the figures celebrating, ignoring, reacting? There’s humor in the details, but also something uncertain underneath. I like leaving space for the viewer to find their own characters in the swarm. "The Crowd" is about what it means to be part of something, and the strange comfort—and discomfort—of being one among many.

Ready to hang.
