People often ask me why I keep coming back to waterfalls. I think it starts with the challenge. Water is never still, t’s constantly shifting, changing direction, breaking apart and coming back together. Trying to capture that movement with paint, that’s what pulls me in. You’re not just painting what you see, you’re interpreting motion, timing, and energy, all on a still surface. What fascinates me most is how unpredictable water is. No two waterfalls behave the same way. The path it takes over rock, how it splits, how it crashes, how it drifts into mist, it’s never perfectly repeatable. As a painter, you have to decide what to hold onto and what to let go. Too much detail, and you lose the motion. Too little, and it loses its presence.
