My collage works take their cue from the compressed poetry of twentieth-century collage: found words, catalogue numbers, destinations, objects and fragments of private language.

They are not imitations of some of my favourite artists like Joseph Cornell, Kurt Schwitters or Robert Rauschenberg. Each piece begins with evidence already embedded
on the page and opens that evidence toward mystery. Found objects and materials found in second-hand book shops, flea markets and the streets of New York in 1999. The weathered metal plate gives this assemblage genuine physical authority. Lock, passage, map and figure converge without resolving into a single story. The materials are discovered, tested and transformed.
