The River Inside is an ongoing series reflecting on the women of the Middle East, their silenced voices, and the tension between the region’s rich cultural history and the restrictions placed upon women’s bodies, sexuality, and self-expression.

Through architectural spaces, fragments of historical imagery, and layered surfaces, Hadieh brings together beauty and absence, presence and erasure. The works consider how a culture can preserve the beauty of its architecture, art, and history while simultaneously suppressing the voices and identities of the women who inhabit it. The river becomes a metaphor for an inner current that continues to move beneath these layers, carrying memory, desire, and voices that have never fully disappeared.
