Charcoal on paper.

“The search for virtue” is a charcoal drawing that captures a moment of transformation between vulnerability and hope. A young figure floats above a carousel, caught between shadowed webs and the weight of uncertainty, while doves sweep across the scene like a quiet rescue, carrying a sense of freedom and possibility. The carousel horses are all white, except for one dark horse, teetering as if about to fall—a symbolic “black sheep” amid the orderly rotation. The dark, clouded landscape and silhouetted trees frame this tension, contrasting fragility with emerging light. The drawing balances planned composition with the spontaneity of charcoal, allowing marks to convey both weight and movement. By combining stark contrasts with symbolic imagery, the work creates a space where emotion, metaphor, and narrative meet. Rooted in my perspective, it invites viewers to witness the journey and find their own sense of hope within the interplay of darkness and light.
