“The Tow Man” a modern interpretation of a Honoré Daumier work, depicts the physical act of tugging a rope attached to a boat from the shore. The boat, a metaphor for life, also parallels Sisyphus’ boulder. Although physically strong, the man embodies a tired state of being with his head held low. His repetitive struggle set against a somber grey sky adds to the melancholy. Once again, an orange sun appears in the distance as possible hope for the future.
