In the Gulf Islands, shallow water over white limestone turns a colour that stops you, a brilliant turquoise, there but gone as the light shifts. This painting in cold wax and oil contains layers of cerulean and teal built and excavated over warm sand and ochre, showing dark depths against the shallow jewel bright patches. The looping marks carry the pure pleasure of a hot day on the water.
