“What Remains": Between Ash and Light is a reflection of my own inner turmoil—grappling with loss, identity, and the unravelling of something I once thought was unshakable: an Israeli flag. The fractured Star of David, the broken lines, and the dripping textures mirror my sense of dissonance—the feeling of watching something I love break apart.
The strings hanging from the canvas echo the tzitzit of a Jewish prayer shawl—threads of faith and tradition, now frayed, untethered. At times, it feels as if I, too, am dissolving—my history, my belonging, my certainty slipping away.
And yet, the gold persists. Even in the chaos, something precious remains. This painting holds that tension—between destruction and resilience, despair and hope.
