This painting hovers between city and memory. The palette is restrained yet emotionally charged: pale blues and foggy greys dissolve into bruised reds, ochres, and blacks. The upper half breathes—open, atmospheric, hesitant—while the lower half thickens into gravity, weight, and residue. Vertical gestures suggest architecture without committing to it; they feel like impressions of buildings recalled through emotion rather than sight. The strongest passage is the central dark vertical mass: it anchors the composition and introduces risk, but it could be sharpened conceptually. At times the surface becomes overly polite—too evenly worked—diluting tension. A bolder disruption (a sharper contrast, a deliberate rupture, or a clearer directional pull) would intensify the psychological journey. Still, the work succeeds in evoking transience, as if the city is dissolving while the feeling remains.
