She has never kept bees.

In fact, she has absolutely no intention of keeping bees.
But she saw the hat and understood immediately: this was not protective equipment. This was an attitude.

Behind the veil, she can watch the world without the world quite knowing what she is thinking. The enormous black brim announces her before she ever says a word, while the brilliant red surrounding her makes disappearing nearly impossible.

The flowers are blooming. The bees may be buzzing. She couldn’t care less.
