This collection is a judgment of how brands and icons influence and impact in our lives. We humans have the need to follow and believe. We overvalue without a critical analysis of what we have devotion for so we don't pay attention if things really means something or if they are just foolish. We don't realise that most of what we are attracted for have been inducted by media through psychological strategies. We are lab rats that follow what society follow unconsciously. You can choose or just be one more follower.
PEDRO SIRATZ (b. Linares (Jaén, Spain) 1984). He has a master's degree in Art, Museums and Historical Heritage.
Siratz is a self-taught artist. He spent his entire career managing fashion stores in Spain and London for brands such as Camper, Massimo Dutti, and Ralph Lauren. In recent years, he has fully devoted himself to art in various capacities, working in art galleries and on his own projects, including the artist platform Knack Art Show, which operates in Mallorca (Spain) and Montreal (Canada).
His global perspective on art has been shaped by his experiences living in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, and Canada, as well as his travels through Europe, Asia, Indonesia, South America, North America, and North Africa. This diverse exposure has significantly influenced his artistic identity. His art education involves studying painting masters, color theory, materials, and the possibilities of surfaces. He continually strives to refine his personal creative path, aiming to understand and translate his thoughts into art.
Siratz has worked on various artistic projects, including creating the label for Fany de la Chica for Lifewtr USA in 2021, designing the cover for the same artist’s album, and painting murals for COEO Hotels in Malaga (Spain).
His works are part of private collections in Germany, Switzerland, the United States, Mexico, Spain, and particularly France. He has also collaborated with public organizations such as the city of Fleurance (France) and the Infanta Leonor Theater in Jaén (Spain).
Currently, Siratz focuses on visual simplification, the use of natural colors and materials, translating shapes with paper, recycling paper from novels, and exploring the forms and beauty of nature.
He lives and works in Montreal (Canada).
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My work reflects a solitary journey, a discovery of the individual, the human being, dreams, memories, mysticism and artistic creation. An evolution from the artificial to the natural, from complexity to simplicity.
The evolution of my work is the result of influences from my personal experience, everyday life, time, love, poetry, society, spirituality and, above all, nature. Through my work, I try to capture the beauty and fragility of nature and our existence on the earth.
I work mainly on raw canvas or paper with charcoal, acrylics and learning to create natural pigments from flowers or plants. As a responsible nature lover, I also recycle paper from books in some of my works, which would otherwise end up in the trash. I enrich my works with the stories contained in the paper of those books, stories that will never be lost. I hope to create works that not only capture and connect with the essence of life, but also encourage others to appreciate and protect our natural world.
