Acrylic on wood panel with watercolour on Japanese paper.
30x16"
Abstract expression of Arctic pre-dawn light.
Created by painting in acrylics on wood panel, and subsequently mounting watercolour on paper in certain sections of each painting. A low-gloss finish is then applied, using several coats of anti-UV acrylic varnish. The finished work doesn't require glass protection.
Each piece is wired on the back of the wood panel, and ready to hang.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My work is a process of building a language for the emotional impact of place and weather and season: deconstructing an experience or a feeling, and then reconstructing it through colour and shape and composition. The ongoing challenge is to convey an emotion or experience for the viewer.
This "visual language" often speaks in a small voice. By bringing attention to things that may go unnoticed or unappreciated, art may have the power to create new ways of thinking.
Art can indeed change the way we look at this world.
