“The owl of Minerva takes its flight only when the shades of night are gathering.” -G. W. F. Hegel

Minerva is the Roman equivalent to Athena, Greek Goddess of wisdom. Hegel was a philosopher, he believed philosopher's (the owl) rises with the night, when the day (a political movement, significant event, conflict etc) is ending and can be reflected on and fully understood. The idea is we can't truly know something in the moment, and I think that can apply everything in life. Hindsight is 20/20, as they say.
