Cindy Santa was born in Canmore Alberta and grew up in a small mining town in northern Manitoba, Snow Lake. She graduated ACAD Majoring in Sculpture. She has a flare to excel at any medium put in her hand and continues to create.

ARTIST STATEMENT

I’m a Cree Canadian Indigenous multimedia artist practicing in welding, airbrushing, painting, sketching, sculpture and carving, working in large format. I incorporate a sculptural aspect in all my work. I use many mediums that will help me create the effect I want. I create custom stencils, use paints, carve into wood, cut into paper, create positive and negative spaces, and incorporate glass.
I have a deep connection to animal’s, my spirit guides and metaphors are manifested into an image to create a story. I use pattern, balance, and unity creating 1 image out of many To entice inner peace within. I use symbolism and symmetry creating movement of the eye exploring the art work.
I want the audience to think, understand and feel the unity. But each viewer will see different elements. I hope my art creates a feeling of euphoria as young and old interact with the art and finding the many images. All my art creates a story needing to be told.
