Acrylic, emulsion, marker pen on canvas.
8x8"
This little study piece of Elton John really focusses on Selevos love of colour, complementary colour and mark making. It's a simplified study piece that packs all the elements of Selevos larger work, into one tiny canvas!
Lancashire born graduate of Fine Arts at Manchester Metropolitan University, Selevos went on to become a professional working artist around the UK, Switzerland and is currently based out in Vancouver, Canada.
Continuing to develop her process over the last 10+ years she aims to create vibrant, statement portraits that bring a burst of colour into any interior.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
Selevos chooses to keep exposed the bones of the painting in the finished work as well as occasionally sharing elements of progression through time lapse films on her YouTube channel! Unusually choosing to work with emulsion and marker pen, she explores colour and playfulness of paint, layering bold brush strokes, splatters and drips with flimsy linear marking, contrasted with focused pen work to add structure to the form. Imagery comes from sometimes multiple photographs and video footage that translate into layers of textured paint and pen, a style influenced from her interest in street art. Selevos fluid method is ever evolving and making mistakes is all very much part of the process!
