Maja Maglajlic
Maja is a Vancouver BC based abstract artist with a degree in Art History from the University of British Columbia. Working mostly in acrylic and alcohol ink, occasionally straying into other media; her art, highly informed by the use of bold, saturated colour, is rooted in experimentation as a form of personal expression and exploration. She is a firm believer in the transformative power of colour, affecting moods and adding layered meanings to her work. Though a lifelong creator, she started sharing her work with a wider public in 2018, exhibiting locally and participating in Clio Art Fair in New York City (Oct. 2018) and ITSLIQUID Group's Venice Art Fair (Spring 2019).
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
My art is a spiritual, meditative exercise and a way to explore and deal with a myriad emotions. It is highly intuitive. Influenced by my Mediterranean upbringing, the rich, bright colours reflect and bring forth the light out of the darkness that often surrounds our day to day existence. Finding joy isn't always easy, but bringing even a little of it into the world, can make a world of difference.
