ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I am learning from nature what life doesn't speak about.
My work is the unconscious expression of what has marked me or someone I know. What inspires me is Peace and Love but I often use abstract and surreal nature as my main symbolic metaphor for the mood or emotions I want to express.

Description of "Fountains of Light in a Pond"
"Fountains of Light in a Pond" is an evocative exploration of the hidden depths and layers within a seemingly ordinary pond. Inspired by the intricate beauty of a muggy, leaf-strewn waterway, this painting captures the vibrant essence of autumn, where the chaos of fallen leaves creates a stunning visual tapestry. The interplay of colors and textures invites viewers to reconsider their perceptions, revealing the unexpected beauty that lies beneath the surface.
Artist Statement
In my work, particularly in "Fountains of Light in a Pond," I aim to transcend the literal, capturing emotions rather than reality. This piece reflects my belief that true beauty often resides in complexity. The theme of "never judge a book by its cover" resonates deeply here, as the pond—messy and cluttered with leaves—holds a captivating allure that unfolds with contemplation.
With every brush stroke, I’ve infused my canvas with raw emotion, capturing the essence of a mystical pond, where light and water dance in a harmonious symphony. The vibrant layers create a sense of movement, revealing a semi-abstract tale of nature’s ebbs and flows. This painting imbues any space with an enigmatic, soul-stirring energy, serving as a visual poem to the unseen beauty that surrounds us. I invite viewers to delve into their own depths, discovering the layers of emotion and meaning that resonate within this seemingly tranquil scene. Enjoy! Thanks.

Artist Statement
In "Dancing Leaves in a Pond," I continue my exploration of abstract expressionism, focusing on the themes of movement and vitality. Inspired by the fluid dance of leaves as they flutter above the water, this painting invites viewers to appreciate the ephemeral beauty of nature. Like its companion piece, "Fountains of Light in a Pond," it shares a vibrant palette and textured layers, creating a harmonious dialogue between the two works. Each unique and perfectly beautiful when standing alone, like in nature.
With every palette knife movement, I have aimed to infuse the canvas with the energy of life, capturing the leaves in their elegant ballet above the water. I painted this one with my palette knives. I find it feels like a breath of fresh air.
Lately, more than ever before I feel like when I need to relax, I reach for the outdoors. It has a certain magic that can be like a warm freshness or something. Can't explain it much in words. It was inspired by the feeling of just a relaxed freshness gained from a brisk walk.

An abstract painting with moving light and fog in light colours of cream, green and yellow. The light on the tree trucks draws you in and takes you on a journey into an untouched imagined landscape. Painted with spontaneous bold strokes from her imagination, the artist didn't want to focus on capturing every detail of the landscape. Instead decided on capturing the energy, portraying key elements such as light, colours and shadows. The inspiration comes not from the scene itself, but from the initial impression it leaves upon the artist.

My acrylic painting is a celebration of the beauty found in unlikely places. Inspired by the sinking kayak dock at Riel Park in St-Albert, I was struck by the surreal view of reality created by the moss floating over the water and the dock.
The distant shores of the Sturgeon River and the clouds above add depth to the painting, making it feel like a flatbed. As I approached the dock, I noticed that it had become a home to ducks, which added to the curious and surreal scene.
Through my painting, I hope to capture the beauty of nature's ability to adapt and thrive in unexpected places. The sinking kayak dock, once seen as a problem, has become a haven for the local wildlife. The moss and the ducks have transformed it into something beautiful and unexpected. Art has the ability to highlight the beauty in our surroundings, even in the most unlikely of places. This painting is a tribute to the power of nature and the importance of finding beauty in the unexpected.

This oil painting is titled "Fragmented Reality" and was created by Mariam Qureshi. It was painted in oil paint live at a senior's home during a community effort for Alzheimer's. The painting has fragmented pieces of mountains, yellow flowers, swirling hills, purple in the sunsets and orange in the trees. Mariam Qureshi asked those who were living with Alzheimer's to describe their favourite memory and as they recalled family trips to the mountains and ski vacations, the artist created this piece. This painting is a beautiful reminder of pleasant memories and is sure to brighten any room it is hung in.
