Nathalie Kraemer
Nathalie Kraemer is a visual artist and singer/songwriter from Germany with French Vietnamese roots, now living and working in Toronto. After graduating with a B.A. (Hons) in film in Europe and extended studies in classical animation at Vancouver Film School, she started work as a 2D animation artist and illustrator/graphic designer using a wide range of mediums, including hand drawn, paper cut, classical stop motion animation, digital illustration and animation. The highlight of her career was her short film screening at Cannes Film Festival in 2009. Having worked for several companies she is now focusing on her independent projects. Her latest paper cut out animation which was the music video to her song “Suckr for Love” won a series of awards and screenings at international film festivals including the Berlin Music Video Awards and the St. John’s International Women Film Festival. More of her silhouette work can be seen around Toronto such as the coffee cup sleeves at eatery Calii Love. My art is inspired by nature and its magic, as well as human history. My aim is to spread love, awareness and a feeling of escapism into a beautiful world.

This is a one of a kind piece about Santa Lucia. In Sweden, Denmark, Norway, and Finland, Lucy (called Lucia) is venerated on 13 December in a ceremony where a girl is elected to portray Lucia. Wearing a white gown with a red sash and a crown of candles on her head, she walks at the head of a procession of women, each holding a candle.
