Created at the Mauser EcoHouse artist residency in Esterillos Este, Costa Rica.
A handmade piece on scratchboard, where a metal quill is used to scrape the black surface to reveal the white underneath. Shape, texture, and colour of the animals are all described by the intensity of the scratch with the quill, what direction, and how much I go over the surface.

This painting was inspired by a video still from a music video I created for the song
"Reflections" for my collaborative music/video project Dorian's Shadow. In this
scene, the heroine is looking into a mirror. She reflects on a moment when an
important person in her life caused pain, and she is filled with conflicting emotions.
