Saby
Saby is a French artist based in Toronto since 2014.
Born and raised in France by a father originally from Togo and a mother from Reunion Island, Saby has always evolved in a rich multi-cultural environment.
Self-taught, she decided to externalize her emotions and her need to escape by taking up a canvas. She believes that art is a conduit of love, sharing and healing. As a discreet person, painting has been her best way to express herself. Surrounded by strong and powerful women, she loves showcasing their beauty and diversity through her paintings. An ocean of opportunities and total freedom is offered to her. Since her first acrylic piece in 2016, Saby continues to explore different styles to express herself closer from her reality.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Free-da is my second abstract hand painting. After I visited El Museo Frida Kahlo in Playa Del Carmen (Cancún), I literally fell in love with this artist. She is one of my biggest inspirations. The way she communicated through her painting to express herself, her love, her loss, her pain, and ignoring taboos.

This piece was made in honour of all the ambitious women that I know.
