Sanjida Haque
The artist pierces through versatility with her medium- from earth to motherhood to femininity. Always in a continuous search for her identity, her depictions of belongingness in her powerful pieces revolve around personal elements as well as international ones. Nature and its alluring diversity attract her, and she blends contemporary facts with her art. Her art sometime comes off as her way of being thankful of her life’s significance- she loves to play with colors as life prepared her above and beneath many shades. Each of her pieces has a story of its own.
Born into Bangladeshi family and currently living in Toronto her childhood and youth hold experiences from middle east and south Asia and she continues to extend those roots in Canada.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I paint for life from life experiences. My choice of mediums are, acrylic, mixed media, watercolor and pen. Being raised in culturally conservative and patriarchic environment, my canvases are the representation of suppressed emotions and experiences, from earth to motherhood to femininity, I aim to deliver a powerful message to current pushbutton society, I encourage a willingness to face reality and to continue to dream.
