Acrylic on canvas.

This year, after completing my art residency and our group visit to the Alliston Aquifer area (Ontario, Canada), I created this painting. Experiencing the landscape firsthand — its quiet fragility and its importance as a source of clean underground water — deeply shaped the direction of this work. The composition is divided by a dark plane, resembling a barrier or wall—an
emblem of separation and tension. On the left, a radiant scene unfolds: a
turquoise tree, a winding blue line evoking a river, and luminous greens and
yellows that carry the optimism of renewal. On the right, a shadowed tree in
muted greys and violets rises above stone-like outlines, a subtle reference to
quarries and extraction. Above both sides, a wide sky hovers, suggesting the
shared space that unites opposing realities. The work reflects the fragile balance between preservation and exploitation, and the guardianship required to sustain the aquifer’s future.
