This artwork is a part of my “Rapids” collection and it vividly depicts the intense force of water in the rapids. The sculpted canvas is handmade and exclusive to this artwork, which is printed using Epson archival inks onto the canvas. After spending a few weeks working in my portable outdoor studio at Bon Echo Provincial Park, I was able to fine-tune my process of working outdoors. During one particular outing, my son and I were out on the lake in our dinghy - he was fishing while I was taking pictures. The sunset, combined with the dramatic cliff face, made for a perfect photo opportunity. Unfortunately, we were unable to explore what was around the bend in the lake, but we're both looking forward to the next time we can.

This artwork is a mixed media piece that uses acrylic and photography on a unique, handmade, sculpted canvas. This canvas is exclusive to this specific piece and is a combination of sculpture, painting, and photography. In addition to acrylic, digital printing was also used in the creation of this piece.

In this artwork, I aimed to capture the abstract image of the setting sun's reflection on the water. The color of the piece is an exact representation of how it appeared when I took the photograph, with no alterations made in Photoshop.

This is a mixed media artwork, where a digital print on canvas is stretched over shaped stretcher frames, creating a sculpted canvas. I also incorporated sand from the beach to give the artwork a unique texture.

This is the third sketch created at my outdoor studio this Summer. I set up an outdoor studio, at Bon Echo Provincial Park for 23 days, with all of my equipment so that I could work on location without returning to my studio to finish my paintings. The photo was taken about 100 meters from where I created this painting.

This Summer while camping for 2 months, I set up an outdoor studio with all of my equipment so that I could work on location without returning to my studio to finish my paintings. This is one of the first paintings created totally outdoors on location. The photo is about 100 meters from where I created this painting.

In this painting, I hope to convey the beauty of nature and by using non-rectangular stretchers I allow the scene to expand beyond the frame.

This painting is what I have been aiming for since I started working to incorporate my photography with my acrylic painting approximately 10 years ago. This whole painting is done on regular canvas which I use to paint on. Previously I would blend painted canvas with printed canvas, introducing acrylic paint onto the printed canvas. Now I'm able to print straight onto what I paint. This enables me to truly blend the photo with the painting so that the viewer doesn't perceive where the photo starts and the painting begins. It is truly exciting for me to see how the painting changes the photo and how the photo changes the painting to become something totally new.

This painting is one of my fragmented memories of remembrance from my childhood. This series called "Hutě" was inspired by my trip last summer to the Czech Republic where I revisited where I lived as a young boy. At that time the steelworks, just outside of Ostrava, now decommissioned, were the hart beat off the region. As I walked threw the acres of derelict factories I remembered when the night sky would turn red as the steelworks were throwing out the red hot slag. At that moment I wanted to capture that fragment of my memory.

Hutě — Sketch #2 is one of the sketches in the Hutě series I'm working on triggered by my trip to the Czech Republic last August. And as I walked through through the decommissioned steelworks, just outside of Ostrava a city in the north of Moravia, I decided to capture the memory from my childhood. I recall when the night sky would turn red as the steelworks were throwing out the red hot slag. Looking at what is now a museum and entertainment center I decided to capture that memory.

The fourth painting in the "Hutě" series of my fragmented memories of remembrance of my childhood. Coming upon this huge derelict structure, in the huge industrial heritage site with its abandoned furnaces, I wondered what ghosts were roaming behind the dark windows.

The sculpted canvases are handmade and unique to this artwork. It is Mixed Media through the integration of elements found within sculpture, painting, and photography. The two media used are acrylic and digital printing.

"Hutě—Let it flow" is the second painting from a series I’m working on, called “Hutě”. What I remember vividly are the nights when the steelworks were throwing out the red hot slag and the night sky glowed red and orange through my widow, although this was 10 to 15 kilometers away. This painting is my next step toward a minimalistic approach to my work. I'm looking at my photo and cutting it down to the main subject, the lone tree. As support, I wanted just pure clean, and flat color. To achieve this I had to airbrush my background. Due to the size and airbrushing, I had to work outside in my backyard. This ended up being challenging. Usually, I'm not worried about things falling into the paint as I work outside a lot, but this time I needed a clean environment. I was amazed at the amount of my dog hare that was in the air and at one point my dog managed to walk across the canvas as it was drying on the ground. Thankfully I was able to take out the prints and with 20 more coats, there is no trace of my dog's handy work—just mine.

Inspired by our pet’s mischievous nature of walking on my unfinished canvases. I attempted to recreate the paw prints in a controlled manner through repeated experimentation and bribery (cat treats). The impressions left on this canvas reflect the impressions our companions leave with us.
