This is called "1965" which represents that period of time in the mid 60's where mod culture and fashion were at a height. This was before the late psychedelic period with hippies etc. The full title might be "1965, Mods, Cardin".

This is a new series of female portraits seen in profile using women of various races. The theme includes naming each portrait after a Greek goddess giving the attributes of that goddess to the assigned portrait. The works are all oil on canvas and are set at the same size. This is Asteria, goddess or 'starry one'.

My interest here was in painting a woman with a costume on taken from a photographer's model's stock photo. I made a series of pictures with decorative clothing and costumes.

This painting was inspired by a scene from a German choreographer called Pina Bausch. I saw a documentary on Bausch a several years ago and was fascinated by her imagery and arrangements. Some time ago, I rescued this canvas from being discarded and it became a project during the beginning of the pandemic. In this large canvas, I tried to capture the intense emotional interaction between the dancers.
This painting was accepted in the Ontario Society of Artists Annual Show in 2020.

This was part of an (unfinished) series of portraits of the prime ministers of Canada when I was experimenting with a monochromatic style. Robert Borden (1854-1937) was the 8th Prime Minister of Canada from 1911 to 1920. This painting has a floating black frame on it.

I was asked to paint a picture of the then new prime minister Justin Trudeau. This is derived from a photo taken when he was younger. It is slightly just over life size and has been professionally framed in a black floating frame.
