I painted this work in plein air in Audubon Park in New Orleans, which inspired the name of the work. I love Audubon Park and have spent many hours walking the loop and admiring the historic homes and beautiful landscape. With my mom, who has always encouraged my artwork, parked on a bench beside me enjoying the sunset, I delved into my foray into dimensionality in my paintings, using my paint knife extensively to form peaks, bringing the garden to the viewer. I hope this will bring you the peace and excitement of the Spanish moss hanging off of the beautiful trees in New Orleans that it has always brought me.
