My work is often inspired by exploring natural and urban landscapes so in depth that new ways of seeing are uncovered, slowing down and looking so intimately that it transforms completely. In the photos I have attached from my series Soft Detour, I used extreme close-ups and experiment with color to push the limits of photography into what painters do with landscape. I love making site-specific bodies of work like this one that traced the visual change of the seasons as the natural landscape mutated throughout a year, hyperfocusing on the transformation of the earth. Through my lens, the world dissolves into abstracted shapes and colors that represent the passing of time, weather, and volatility. Logic and linearity are pushed to the side when I'm walking and wandering. I think about psychogeography and the effect of a landscape on my emotional state. I want to promote the act of noticing magic in the everyday, and create new worlds through experimental digital photography and film techniques.
