Blooming Fern Night

Oil on canvas.

36x36x1.50"

Painted on the summer solstice nearly a decade ago, Blooming Fern Night is inspired by an ancient myth: that once a year, on the shortest night, a fern blooms — not with real flowers, but with a mysterious, invisible glow.
According to folklore, those who find this rare bloom experience wonder, revelation, even transformation. In truth, ferns do not flower — and that’s where the beauty lies. This painting doesn’t depict the blossom itself, but its imagined light: a flicker in the forest, a breath of enchantment in the air.
Through layered textures and deep, luminous tones, Blooming Fern Night invites the viewer to sense the invisible — the quiet magic of nature, and the fragile joy of believing in something we cannot see.
