Firouzeh Saremi Far; Painting and Sculpture major at OCAD University, is an artist, based in Toronto.
ARTIST’S STATEMENT
As an artist, my practice is a continuous exploration of the intersections between human experience and environmental influences. Drawing from the bold vibrancy of Fauvism, the emotional intensity of Expressionism, and the boundless possibilities of Abstract art, my works seek to invoke a dialogue on human matters.
My journey is influenced by the dynamic interactions between art and society, where my work strives to reflect a story or provoke a question, engaging audiences in a conversation that extends beyond the visual experience. My teaching role enriches this perspective, as working with young children keeps my approach fresh and filled with wonder; their uninhibited expression and innovative viewpoints on color and composition continually inspire my artistic methods.
Currently, I am focusing on developing two distinct collections: "Parts of Me" and "A Life Full of She and Stitches". "Parts of Me" explores the relationship between humanity and nature, while "A Life Full of She and Stitches" reflects personal narratives of identity and change. Both collections utilize mixed media to depict stories of conflict and survival.
Through art, I aim to not only challenge viewers but also to empower them, fostering a sense of responsibility and hope. The intention is to create art that does more than occupy space; it serves as a catalyst for reflection and action. My body of work is crafted with the hope of contributing positively to the collective awareness and appreciation of both art and the urgent issues it addresses.
My endeavors represent a platform for critical discourse, inviting viewers to contemplate their own impact on the world. As I continue to evolve as an artist, my commitment remains steadfast—trying to produce work that resonates with truth, urging a deeper engagement with our world's most pressing challenges.
