I am based in Middlesex County, a small rural farming community outside London, Ontario. I grew up in Haliburton, where I explored the rugged terrain of my backyard, drawing continuous inspiration from the colours and diversity of the landscape. University took me to London to study and gain my HBA in business, and shortly after, I moved to Birr, where I presently reside with my family. Often, I can be found walking and snowshoeing the fields with my quirky Bernese dog, Murphy, absorbing the land and sky's vastness and nature's textures.

As a young girl, I always wanted to paint and tell stories, but I didn't understand where to start. So I channelled my creative spark into other avenues, creating a children's line of clothing, designing and building my family's home, stained glass or designing my garden and landscaping, and on it goes. Still, something drew me back to painting: the need to be just myself with a blank canvas and my brush. And so I started, and with that first brush stroke, I was where I was meant to be.

I am represented by the Petroff Gallery in Toronto, Ontario; Mountainside Gallery, Collingwood Ontario; Westland Gallery in London, Ontario; Maud Gallery in Edmonton, Alberta; the PWD Gallery in Kitchener; and the online gallery Artsy, exhibiting in the Toronto Artist Project.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

As an emerging, self-taught artist, I jump into my art with sheer inquisitiveness and courage, embracing passion and authenticity. What I don't understand, I learn through experimentation, courses, personal mentoring and pure curiosity. My expressive, impactful, bold pieces are the dance between space and form and the dance to find a harmonious balance. I approach my work with a sense of exploration, constantly adding and subtracting, asking, "What if? I wonder what would happen now?" I am intuitively drawn to line and color, exploring the secrets of my marks, shapes and colors and the stories waiting to be told. I love the challenge of making what shouldn't work, work, creating dynamic, fun, inspiring artwork to fill your wall with expression and the unexpected.
