This tree portrait is titled Mother Oak, and is inspired by Dr Suzanne Simard’s book "Finding the Mother Tree"After reading Dr Simard’s work I was able to recognize the oak tree as a mother tree also known as a “hub tree.” Although not in a forest, this oak tree growing beside Georgian Bay in Ontario is surrounded by her seedlings and as per Dr Simard's research connects and communicates with them via the mycorrhizal network.
