This painting is from my Butterfly Collection, which explores nature, beauty, and illusion. I create a floral world in which a butterfly appears to land naturally among the flowers, as though the butterfly itself believes the painted flower is real. At the same time, I want the viewer to momentarily believe that the painted butterfly is real.
For me, this creates a double illusion: the butterfly is deceived by the illusion of the flower, while the viewer is drawn into the illusion of the butterfly. Yet both exist only through paint on the same canvas.
The butterfly is more than a beautiful subject in this collection. It represents transformation, freedom, fragility, and something strangely familiar that I cannot always explain. Through color, flowers, movement, and illusion, I want to create a world where the boundary between what is real and what is imagined becomes uncertain.
