This is the 5th painting in the Canadiana series inspired by my love of the Group of Seven.

My single rock pine (or pine tree growing in rocky, harsh environments) is my metaphor for resilience, tenacity, and quiet strength. It represents the ability to thrive in hostile conditions, demonstrating that profound growth and beauty can emerge from struggle. Life has difficult moments and struggles that challenge our spirit and heart. Waters can be ice cold, winds strong, but like this rock pine, roots can find nourishment by twisting and turning into the channels between the rocks. It will bend and flex and stand as a defiant yet beautiful sentinel against the harsh world.
